An upcoming batch of service changes by Easyride (AKA Rossendale Transport) will affect a number of routes in the northern extremes of Greater Manchester. Extra journeys are being introduced on services 473 (Bury - Rawtenstall), 482 (Bury - Edgeside) and 483 (Fairfield General Hospital - Burnley General Hospital) at peak times and during early mornings.
Unfortunately, Easyride's service 16 (Rochdale - Manchester Limited Stop) will be severely cut back with most journeys withdrawn. We imagine it'll be only peak period journeys that remain. The need for an express bus service between Rochdale and Manchester is questionable when there are regular train services that are faster. Capacity on trains is a concern at peak times so the buses can be useful for picking up the extra passengers then. Details of exact timetable changes aren't available but you can see an overview at GMPTE's site.
Meanwhile, you may remember we recently metioned the planned withdrawal of First's commercial service 387 (Ashtn-under-Lyne - Hyde). This would have left the village of Godley without a bus service. GMPTA are now to fund the service with First continuing to operate it.
This is great news for the people of Godley who have been messed around by numerous service changes, cancellations and last-minute reprieves in recent times
